www.needhamag.com/I know phil needham personally. When i was with Opti-Crop he was the manager. he has to be the smartest person i have ever known when it comes to agriculture he has seen and done it all, and all over the world. He taught me about split application of 28-0-0. I know i could get him up here to speak , and he would be the only speaker for the whole day but we would need a couple hundred guys to attend. Check out the web site he even has some material to order and products to. I talk about using stream bars when top dressing 28-0-0. If you don't know what they are it is explianed on his website. Also check out tramlines i am a supporter of those to.

www.ag.ndsu.edu/crops/North dakota State Univestity. When Opti-Crop first started to top dress 28-0-0 on wheat to increase yield they were against this way of applying 28-0-0 another snake oil so to speak. After a few years and top dressing 28-0-0 became proven to work they changed there minds and promoted it.

On a cold drought stressed year like this are you better pushing the foliage with higher n or using a phos to push the roots and uptake n from the environment?

use a product that has both N and P in it and kill two birds with on stone. You need root development to get the stored N you have deeper down as well the nutrients have touch the root inorder to be taken up. On the other hand if you don't also address whats happening above the ground then yield may go down. you need top growth for photosynthesis to take place. As well yield is produced above ground.
