Scouting my wheat and thinking about applying Tilt soon. Some flag leaves are out. In my area it has become almost the standard for everyone to spray fungicides on their wheat every year. I have not. Their is definetly some disease in the bottom leaves, but the flag and first and second are generally very clean so far. Should I go ahead and spray tilt? Will I be money ahead even if the flag leaf looks clean?

without seeing it or knowing your area it's pretty tough to say. If the weather stays dry and cool the disease would not likely spread and you may be O.K . If the weather gets hot and moist then it will spread. Some guys spray no matter what because for the cost its good insurance. If i would have consulted you i would have had you put ½ rate tilt in with your herbicide and and some foliar nutrients and i know you likely would have been o.k.
But you have disease already, the plants are likely under stress. If the wheat does not have good resistance and the yield looks good i would likely go with it. I am hoping that even though there was frost out in alberta in july that froze water on a guys deck that this fall will be o.k. But put a marker in the field and go back a couple more times to see if it is advancing rapidly if it is you know you have to.
